چکیده

Practical optimization problems often have objective functions that cannot be easily calculated. As a result, comparison-based algorithms that solve such problems use comparison functions that are imperfect (i.e. they may make errors). Machine learning algorithms that search for game-playing programs are typically imperfect comparison algorithms. This paper presents MICAL, an algorithm analysis tool that uses Monte Carlo simulations to derive a Markov Chain model for Imperfect Comparison ALgorithms. Once an algorithm designer has modeled an algorithm using MICAL as a Markov chain, it can be analyzed using existing Markov chain theory. Information that can be extracted from the Markov chain include the estimated solution quality after a given number of iterations; the standard deviation of the solutions’ quality; and the time

M2ICAL Analyses HC-Gammon

We analyse Pollack and Blair’s HC-Gammon backgammon program using a new technique that performs Monte Carlo simulations to derive a Markov Chain model for Imperfect Comparison ALgorithms, called the MICAL method, which models the behavior of the algorithm using a Markov chain, each of whose states represents a class of players of similar strength. The Markov chain transition matrix is populated...

Improving the Performance of ICA Algorithm for fMRI Simulated Data Analysis Using Temporal and Spatial Filters in the Preprocessing Phase

Introduction: The accuracy of analyzing Functional MRI (fMRI) data is usually decreases in the presence of noise and artifact sources. A common solution in for analyzing fMRI data having high noise is to use suitable preprocessing methods with the aim of data denoising. Some effects of preprocessing methods on the parametric methods such as general linear model (GLM) have previously been evalua...

Techno-economic Optimization of a Stand-alone Photovoltaic-battery Renewable Energy System for Low Load Factor Situation- a Comparison between Optimization Algorithms

For remote places having less-strong wind, single resources based renewable energy system (RES) with battery storage can sustainably and economically generate electrical energy. There is hardly any literature on optimal sizing of such RES for very low load demand situation. The objective of this study is to techno-economically optimize the system design of a Photovoltaic (PV)-battery storage RE...

Integrated production-Inventory model with price-dependent demand, imperfect quality, and investment in quality and inspection

In practice, manufacturing systems are never perfect and may have low quality outputs. Therefore, different decisions such as reprocessing, sale at lower prices or diminishing are made according to industry and market. This paper investigates the importance of supply chain coordination through developing two models in centralized decision-making for an imperfect quality manufacturing system wit...

Using Data Mining and Three Decision Tree Algorithms to Optimize the Repair and Maintenance Process

The purpose of this research is to predict the failure of devices using a data mining tool. For this purpose, at the outset, an appropriate database consists of 392 records of ongoing failures in a pharmaceutical company in 1394, in the next step, by analyzing 9 characteristics and type of failure as a database class, analyzes have been used. In this regard, three decision tree algorithms have ...
